“From a conventional point of view, Jane Manus can be described as a sculptor whose artistic materials consist of welded aluminum and paint. But in a deeper sense her materials are space, gravity, asymmetry, balance and disequilibrium. She wields these properties like a magician, creating striking geometric sculptures that challenge our perceptions of inside and outside, movement and stasis, illusion and reality. Her sculptures are abstract in the sense that they don't seek to replicate the world as we see it. But from another perspective they are completely true to the world as we experience it.”
